Bio-Rad Projects

Over the years Bio-Rad has had a variety of internal projects, page design/builds, and website section redesigns. As a team we were was asked to create a list of those projects along with some highlights of each job. Below are the visual representations of that project list.

The ZOE Cell Imager simplifies fluorescence microscopy by using three fluorescence channels, and an integrated digital camera. The product team wanted to show some of the incredible images generated on the machine. Our challenge was to create a visually pleasing layout within the limited width of the website’s architecture.

The internal style guide was designed as an online resource for employees to access when creating web pages, product tools, and print materials. The interface included a search feature, the company: colors, typography, image dimensions, and page grids, as well as, areas to download assets such as buttons, commonly used graphics, and development code.

The Life Science Research page redesign was done to allow users to quickly access products in an organized manner with a featured area highlighting popular products as well as promote new products. The page includes intuitive navigation that highlights customer support tools and a search feature. The page went from a mostly link based layout to a visual representation of the page’s most popular areas.

The customer support area was completely overhauled to make all of the rich content available to the customer much more accessible. The redesign and build included showing feature videos, popular webinars, a support document filter, a ‘certificate of analysis’ search feature, and reorganizing the page so the most used sections are more readily available.

Bio-Rad Learning Center pages allow users to access information about various techniques that Bio-Rad products can be used for. Traditionally, products were not displayed on Learning Center pages. By adding a Related Products righthand module, we now provide customers an option to checkout products pertinent to a particular topic on any given page allowing users access to more information about products that could potentially optimize their experiments.

The homepage was redesigned using data to drive the layout. The data consisted of the following:

  • Page analysis showed most clicks on the homepage were on the nav and footer. Shortening the content height brought the nav and footer closer together
  • Establishing the Bio-Rad brand
  • Highlighting Product areas for new visitors
  • Showing customer service options for return visitors
